About the event

The 1st Annual East-West Music & Dance Festival will bring (200 dancers and musicians) eastern and western artists from the Tampa Bay community and beyond together for a one-of-a-kind event to showcase the talents of musicians and dance performers, stretching hands across geographic and cultural divides in order to fellowship together in the universal language of song and dance. The festival will feature both small and large group performances with a spotlight on Indian flavors inspired by the Choreographer Shivali Vyas and her dance company Spinning Canvas presenting a unique group performances engaging over 100 dancers of different styles of folk dance and music from the Gujrat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Southern regions and beyond. Other eastern-styled performances together with western musical and dance acts will combine to form a smorgasbord of cultural music and dance that will delight audiences of every persuasion. The event has scheduled both local and national touring acts such as Wahh World Fusion Band - Indian Music, Music, kafkasso - Mediterranean Music & Dance, Bomba Body Dance & Drum - Afro Puerto Rican Music & Dance and Maurice Allen & Friends - Jazz & More. This all-day family friendly event will also feature multicultural activities, food vendors, and a kids play area. The event is supported by a Special Events Partnership Grant from the Cultural Arts Commission, part of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County. Spend your Sunday soaking up sights and sounds inspired by all corners of the globe.
